Show More. Prices were in range of other eateries. Only a minor issue was the crumb topping on the Boston baked scrod was a little too wet. The food was ok. I have allergy to shellfish so obviously could not enjoy the dish for which the restaurant is known.
Picked pan seared scallop and shrimp with tomato sauce over rice and the clam chowder. The flavor was bit on the bland side for these two dishes. The staff was friendly and the ambience for outdoor seating was relaxing enough and good for people watching. Overall a bit overpriced. We loved this place! The food, history, service, and atmosphere was superb!
Really enjoyed our seafood dinners at this historic restaurant. Had an early reservation and were able to sit in the Kennedy booth, so that was an extra plus!
This place has been around for a long time. Dinner reservations are a must. Order the special of the the day or risk disappointment.
Lobster roll was the worst I had. More roll than lobster. Drinks and service was outstanding. I think we had the worst table in the whole restaurant which is a little disappointing because it was our first time there and as we walked around the restaurant was not full and yet we had a table with no view very cramped looking at the kitchen door The only bonus to this is we had the very best server her name was Linda and she made our whole night so I guess sitting at the crummy table was a trade off for having the best service.
Historic restaurant with friendly staff and delicious seafood. The scallops were perfectly cooked and the clam chowder was flavorful, but did not overpower the clams. I highly recommend the dish that has the tomato cream sauce, but cannot remember what it was called!
Service was horrible we were ignored food menu was very limited huge disapointment. This was my first time visiting Boston and was recommended union oyster house given its history. The restaurant was practically empty but our server found a way to take forever and chat baseball with another couple. Chowder was dull and the sampler was misleading on the menu. We figured not everything was fried, but indeed it was. Our server asked us how everything was, we shared our disappointment and he shrugged and walked away.
Thanks Bud! We packed our uneaten food and ended up throwing it out. Great clam chowder and lobster roll.
Very nice server who gave us a tour at the end. Great ambiance. Excellent waitstaff. Ok bathrooms. Food was yummy. Typical tourist spot, Lots of memorabilia and history. Our server was outstanding! Not at all worth the wait or price. Over rated and a Mecca for tourist. Molly was our server. She was very attentive. We had the clam chowder that was very good and a lobster salad.
The chowder was very good as well when crumbling their sweet cornbread in it. Highly recommend looking at the memorabilia hanging on the walls. Waitress was great. Drinks and food delivered in great time.
Wonderful waitress! Food was really good! Thanks for a great meal. Two of our party ate the baked cod. When my plate came out one person asked, "Why is your fish leaking?
I still think that is likely what it was, but I did get up during the night with an upset stomach. It was the only stomach problem I had the entire trip. The fried shrimp were good, but the cornbread was dry. We didn't try adult drinks or dessert. The history of the place is really cool. I wish I had ordered one of their more signature dishes. If I eat there again I will come for lunch and try the clam chowder. I wouldn't choose it for a big end-of-trip dinner or other special meal.
