Once again, we are coming to the close of another summer. For many, it seems the summer days go by way too fast, and for a few others, these days simply signify another season just around the corner—football season! As many are settling back into their schools and jobs following vacation, we also know it is an excellent time for people to look to the Church once again for inspiration and fellowship.

Here at St. Anastasia, we want to be a welcoming place so that when people are looking for a Church to attend, we would be delighted if their search stops right here! While we would love to see our Church grow, this is far from the only reason we strive to be a welcoming Church.

We live in a day and age when people need to hear the Word of God, which is constant and true, even in a world of relativism regarding moral truths. We are of the firm belief that we need God in our Nation. We need God in our lives like never before, and we make no apologies for that belief! As you know, our Church has faced tremendous challenges over the past year and a half as we have done our best to navigate the pandemic.

Many churches have seen drops in both attendance and financial support. However, we believe God will help us through any of the challenges we face along the way. Although I am happy to see many people and families return to worship in our Church, I am very concerned that many of our young adults and families with children are not attending Sunday Masses as they used to before the pandemic.

There are without doubt all kinds of reasons why people have not returned to Mass in person yet. Some are grieving, isolated, or still fearful. Some are protecting young children, and others have gotten into a new routine on Sunday morning. All are welcome— young adults, elderly, families with children, all people who belong to our parish, and all guests and visitors. My goals as Pastor are to provide an atmosphere where people are welcome, take care of my parishioners, and feed them spiritually so that all can nourish a strong relationship with our Lord.

If you are out and about doing other things such as shopping, dining, attending sporting events, etc. We want to see our Church family! We miss you; we miss the voices of our children, youth, and adults worshipping together in fellowship. There is just something powerful and amazing about meeting together as a Family, as the Church!
